Yingying Wang
Visual Artist | Documentary Director | Curator
Yingying Wang is a visual artist, documentary filmmaker, and curator active in the field of contemporary art. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Her practice centers around moving images, blending documentary and narrative approaches to explore the intersection of personal experience and social transformation.
Her work Hui was acquired for the permanent collection of the CRP/ Centre régional de la photographie in France in 2022. In recent years, her work has received growing professional recognition: she was shortlisted for the inaugural abC Art Book Prize in 2020, won the 11th Luo Bonian Photography Award and the China Photography Top 20 Award in 2019, was nominated for the Magnum Foundation’s Inge Morath Documentary Photography Grant in 2018, and was named an Emerging Photographer by the Center for Fine Art Photography in the United States in 2017.
Beyond her artistic practice, she is also engaged in education and outreach. She is a signed mentor at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, an official Image Discovery Curator on Xiaohongshu (RED), and a juror for the Tuchong Image Competition, continuing to advocate for public engagement and cross-cultural dialogue through the medium of photography and film.
